Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 95-96/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
Full-bodied on the palate, with a breadth of texture worthy of its greatest vintages, long, generous licorice notes, showing a grape picked at perfect ripeness, beautiful oak, a classic ensemble that could serve as an example to define the most original and purest type of its appellation.
About the domain :
One of the Médoc's most justly popular estates, it is still owned by the Cordier family. It gives rise to an abundant production, which has gained in definition since 2014. For many, Talbot embodies the ideal saint-julien, generously bouqueted, very stable and sure to age. A lovely dry white wine, aromatic and nervous, continues to be produced under the caillou-blanc brand. The intelligent work, carried out with the help of Stéphane Derenoncourt in a skilfully modernized vat room and cellar, is bearing fruit.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
This strong brand, rightly appreciated by connoisseurs, has made a strong comeback, now producing the wines we've come to expect. Equipped with modern, high-performance equipment and skilfully managed, Nancy Bignon-Cordier's vast vineyard, managed by Jean-Michel Laporte, is returning to the glory of its past, producing wines that are more subtle and refined than ever. A flamboyant wine, archetypal of the great classic Saint Julien.

James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2022) 95/100
About the wine:
Ripe currants and plums with violets and other flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, with firm, polished tannins, ripe but firm. Pure fruit here. Lovely center palate. Chewy finish. Give it at least five or six years to develop. Best after 2026.
Terre de Vins
Wine rated (2020 guide) 95-96/100
About the wine:
On the nose, the ruby color is followed by herbaceous and menthol notes. On the palate, the attack is very suave - welcome to Saint-Julien - all sweetness, balance and pleasure. The saline finish is enticing. Talbot's classic.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2020 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
From the outset, the bouquet of Talbot 2019 reveals various elements, including barrel ageing. This is unmistakable, and pleasantly so, through smoky nuances of mocha and freshly baked bread! The freshness of the Cabernet Sauvignon completes the olfactory complexity with notes of eucalyptus and blackcurrant, followed by a touch of graphite. On the palate, the wine fully assumes its focus on Cabernet Sauvignon; there's freshness, tension and powerful tannins. Talbot's identity is evident, underlining its ability to reveal itself through different vintages. A precise, compact wine, with powerful, relevant tannins that provide a good foundation for the whole palate. More than ever, Talbot has its own identity, which is clearly underlined in the finish. What intensity and persistence. 2026-2049
Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing
Wine rated (2020 guide) 95-97/100
About the wine:
With a very floral and delicate bouquet, Talbot is a bewitching, fresh and delicate wine in 2019. Notes of blackcurrant, flowers, peony, rose and blackberry. The tannins are superbly velvety, with a pleasant touch of blackcurrant bud on the mid-palate and a finish of tension and airy freshness. A landmark Talbot.
