"The tannins are so silky, really well integrated. This wine is easy to drink, well balanced and straightforward ~ Decanter"

"Connétable does not fail to reveal its origins and terroir with notes of graphite, while its fruity expression is ensured by aromas of black berries. Its delicious, slender character ensures its flavor, while its tannic structure gives it a little vigor." (Yves Beck 2023)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

This estate, one of the most popular in the Médoc, still belongs to the Cordier family. It produces an abundant harvest, which has gained in strength and definition since 2014. For many, Talbot embodies the ideal of Saint-Julien, with its generous bouquet, great stability, and reliable aging potential. A lovely dry white wine, aromatic and lively, continues to be produced under the Caillou-Blanc label. The intelligent work carried out with the help of Stéphane Derenoncourt in a cleverly modernized vat room and cellar is bearing fruit.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 88/100

About wine:

Very appealing raspberry nose. The palate is bright and lively, with an almost sorbet-like touch of strawberry and raspberry, before the creamy, chalky texture comes into play. Still plenty of energy here, even if it's not the heaviest. The tannins are so silky, really well integrated. This wine is easy to drink. Well-balanced and straightforward, with no dip in the mid-palate. 2024-2039

About the estate:

This powerful brand, rightly appreciated by wine lovers, has made a strong comeback, now producing the wines we have come to expect from it. Equipped with high-performance, modern facilities and skillfully managed, the vast Nancy Bignon-Cordier estate, led by Jean-Michel Laporte, is reviving the glory of its past, producing wines that are more subtle and refined than ever. A flamboyant wine, the archetype of the great classic Saint-Julien.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2022 guide) 90-91/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is fruity, pleasantly fresh, precise, racy, and offers a subtle power, a delicate airiness on the approach, and velvety smoothness. There are notes of fresh/pulpy boysenberry, pulpy strawberry and, more subtly, violet, combined with hints of salinity/iodine and delicate touches of star anise, a discreet hint of licorice/sap, and pulpy red berries. The palate is fruity, fresh, and mineral, offering purity, tension, freshness/minerality, lovely definition, a digestible/indulgent/refined character, and classicism. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fresh/pulpous blackberry, blackcurrant and, more subtly, clove, combined with hints of peony/fresh lily, fresh raspberry, juicy/fresh red berries and subtle hints of sap, saline notes, a subtle hint of toast/chocolate, and an imperceptible hint of coconut. The tannins are supple and savory. Good length.
