With great aromatic finesse, Mont de Milieu Vieilles Vignes reveals the characteristics of the great Chardonnays of the Chablis region. A smoky touch on the mid-palate, brought about by controlled ageing, is part of a fine, silky, crisp style. A very fine 1er cru!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (2019 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
A finer, more mellow juice than the other mont-de-milieu cuvée. It's a pity, though, that the wood (30%, from new demi-muids) is noticeable. It certainly greases the wine, but compared to the great successes of 2008 and 2010, it loses freshness and brilliance. Nevertheless, this remains a fine success, less oaky than the 2014, but there's still room for improvement.
About the domain :
This estate's mont-de-milieu vielles-vignes is perhaps the best bargain in the entire Chablis region!

About the domain :
The first in the line, Julien Philippon, who came from Morvan, settled in 1868 as a lumberjack and gradually built up the family estate. In 1988, his heir André bought Château de Fleys, a former hunting lodge. A fine showcase that he passed on to his children Béatrice, Benoît and Olivier, with a 25-hectare vineyard to the east of Chablis, on the right bank of the Serein.

a little disappointed, I expected better, not very Chablis.

Typical Chardonnay white Burgundy with a pronounced, slightly bitter woodiness. Not your typical Chablis!
