A classy Chablis!

Bettane & Desseauve 16/20Guide hachette 2008 1* Star, Vinalies Prix d'Excellence
This Chablis "Saint-Martin"the fruit of a superb vintage 2005is remarkable from the color of its robe to its finish on the palate. Explosive on the nose, the result of perfectly ripe grapes, it reveals white, yellow and exotic fruit aromas with floral notes. On the palate, we find the same complex aromas as on the nose, with fruit and citrus on the finish, enhanced by classic Chablis mineral notes. This dense, remarkably fragrant cuvée combines finesse and power. A sure bet!

About the domain :

Merchant and producer Michel Laroche is one of the leading figures in the Chablis region. With a vineyard that has grown from 6 ha in the late 1960s to 100 ha today, the estate - founded in 1850 - is based at l'Obédiencerie, a former monastery built over a 9th-century vault that once housed the relics of Saint Martin. A leading name in Chablis wines, it became part of the Advini group in 2009. Michel Laroche now turns his attention to his new estate, Dom. d'Henri, created from family vines.

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning connoisseurs).

About the domain :

Since 2009, the Advini Group has owned the trading house as well as Domaine Laroche and its exceptional vineyard estate. Thanks to a skilled technical team, led by oenologist Grégory Viennois, the style has become purer, with more subtle ageing for wines that are progressing in purity of expression, less fat and opulent than in the past. Rightly ripe grapes are vinified here in barrels, without ever squeezing or making up the wines. The expression of the terroirs is very clear, but the precocious style is not.
