"The 2017 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru presents very well, offering lovely aromas of lemon zest, beeswax, ripe apple and oyster shell. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, with mellow dry extract, ripe acids and a long, well-defined finish." (Wine Advocate 2019) Typical Chablis!

Bettane & Desseauve
3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
An old Chablis family, the Michel's cultivate the very best areas, both premier cru and grand cru. The estate is one of the very few to offer the Grenouilles Grand Cru, whose main producer is La Chablisienne. Since 1969, vinification has been carried out in stainless steel tanks, so that the wines here often start off discreetly in bottle, but their minerality reveals itself without concern after a few years' cellaring.

About the wine:
The 2017 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru presents very well, offering lovely aromas of lemon zest, beeswax, ripe apple and oyster shell. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, with mellow dry extract, ripe acids and a long, well-defined finish. This is a 2017 that nods to the 2015 vintage in terms of structure and scale, but it's well-balanced and will be rewarded after time in bottle.

About the wine:
Nice volume and tasty, ripe material in Butteaux, a neat, rather precocious wine.

If you're a fan of younger Chablis 1er cru wines, this is a very good experience.
