"A rare gem

"The 2009 Chablis Vaudésir has a very pure bouquet with lovely scents of limestone and smoke percolating through the veneer of lime and grapefruit. The palate is well balanced with a clean line of acidity, good depth with a concentrated, resinous, peach-skin finish that lingers well on the palate." (Wine Advocate)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

The Verget trading house is part of the Guffens-Heynen "trilogy", where Jean-Marie Guffens, supported by his loyal second-in-command Julien Desplans, applies the recipes tried and tested on his elite domaine since the 1980s, which serve as a worldwide benchmark for Chardonnay. The spearhead here remains the Mâconnais, but purchases from the Chablis region are regular and, depending on the vintage, there are some fine cuvées from the Côte de Beaune. Booking en primeur will be all the more judicious as it may provide an opportunity to buy "terroir-less" wines by the capsule, proving that terroir is not always the deciding factor when it comes to quality. Last but not least, this is the address where you can buy Guffens aux Tourettes and Verget du Sud, at unbeatable price-pleasure ratios, reviewed in the Rhône Valley section of this guide. An exemplary address.
