"A rich, well-balanced neighbor of the Grands Crus".
"Great scope, stature and depth in this very complete and harmonious wine, without any heaviness, asserting a structure very close to that of the grands crus." (Le Guide RVF 2021). Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)
About the domain :
Didier Séguier has been at the helm since the estate was taken over by Beaune-based Bouchard Père et Fils almost a quarter of a century ago, and since then he has made great strides in improving the quality of the wines. The estate's vineyards are certainly the finest in the Chablis region, both in terms of premier and grand crus, but the diligent, rigorous work in both vineyard and cellar enables us to extract the quintessential minerality of Chablis's Kimmeridgian limestone. These are wines that can regularly be enjoyed young, but which also stand up impeccably to ageing.

About the wine:
Floral and aromatic. Textured palate with notes of apple, herbs and orange zest. Powerful, unctuous wine.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
As usual, the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent is one of the house's finest premier crus, delivering an incipiently complex bouquet of fresh peach, crisp green orchard fruit, dried white flowers, smoke and oyster shell. Medium-bodied, satiny and full-bodied, it's rich and multidimensional, with a deep core, racy acidity and a long, penetrating finish.

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Great breadth, stature and depth in this very complete, harmonious wine, without any heaviness, asserting a structure very close to that of the grands crus.
About the domain :
Owned by the Henriot group, this estate is the largest Grands Crus owner in Chablis, with over 15 hectares. Its vast vineyard and range of great terroirs are enhanced by meticulous organization: ploughing of the soil, manual harvesting at the optimum date, yield control. Passionate about his vines, Didier Seguier, who has been at the helm of the domaine since 1998, produces pure, well-defined, clean Chablis, using organic methods (certification underway) and even biodynamic methods for the premier and grand crus. With the exception of the Petit Chablis, vinification and ageing for each cuvée are skilfully divided between barrels - never new - and stainless steel tanks. Rejecting any kind of signature, the style seduces with its respect for terroir and expression of minerality, better preserved since the estate gradually converted the entire range to Diam's corks between 2005 and 2010. Organic conversion is underway.

About the wine:
The freshness of green pear edged with lemon marks the nose of this wine. The pear is rounder and riper on the palate, but the freshness remains, leading to refreshing, concentrated, chalky depth. It's elegant and enduringly fresh - a triumph in 2018. Enjoy until 2040.

About the wine:
The 2018 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru is clean and precise on the nose, more classic than the Vaillons or Fourchaume. With aromas of jasmine, white peach and lemon zest wafting from the glass. The palate is clean and precise, with well-balanced acidity and wonderful delineation from start to finish. Linear in style, it retains a lovely attack and leaves a lemongrass note on the tongue. An excellent wine.

About the wine:
Ripe apples and pears with nuances of crushed stone on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, creamy and layered with a subtle, focused finish. For drinking or cellaring.

Yes, this Chablis Vaulorent, still available in the 2018 vintage, is an excellent choice from this producer, alongside a Vaudésir, for example. Mineral, fruity, elegant with a hint of acidity, revealing the citrus aromas characteristic of this appellation. I recommend it, but not too much, because then there'll be none left...
