Château de Chamirey
Château de Chamirey is owned by the highly talented Devillard family, who reign over one of the largest and most beautiful vineyards in Burgundy. The Domaines Devillard are divided between the 39 hectares of Château de Chamirey in AOC Mercurey , 15 hectares of which are Premier Cru, Domaine des Perdrix and its 12 hectares spread over the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Nuits (Echezeaux, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée...), Domaine de la Ferté and Clos du Cellier aux Moines, both in the heart of Givry and its splendid Premiers Crus.

The quality of its terroirs, particularly that of Château de Chamirey, and the rigor of its reasoned viticultural methods, vinification and ageing have earned Domaines Devillard a growing reputation, with its vintages ranking among the great wines of Burgundy. A know-how in the purest Burgundian tradition, in tune with the terroir, for very contemporary, tasty wines.

"Excellent introduction to the range"

"The Mercurey Village is an excellent introduction to the range, with pleasant raspberry and floral notes, without too much oak. The wine is a blend of grapes from ten different parcels and some declassified premier cru juice. The palate is fresh without being acidic, the tannins are firm and the wine is quite long. The grapes are mostly destemmed and fermented in vats before being aged for a year in barrels (for 70% of the wine, including 10% new barrels) and in tanks." (Decanter 2022)

"Opulence and balance

"Clos l'Evêque is located in the northern part of Mercurey; the estate owns three parcels on the highest point of the appellation. The young vines have produced a ripe, generous wine with aromas of black plum, earth and smoke. The texture is dense and velvety, with a sensation of richness greater than elsewhere in this winery. The opulent fruit is well balanced by fresh acidity that carries the wine through to a lingering finish." (Decanter 2022).

"Pearl of Chardonnay

"After its pear and peach notes on the attack, we appreciate its long, refined and fresh allonge". (Le Guide Bettane + Desseauve). It's an anthology of floral notes and white-fleshed fruit that opens up to us during tasting. This Mercurey is a very fine expression of Chardonnay, a rare pearl for the appellation since this grape variety accounts for only 15%.

"Layered and enveloping, Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Roi 2019 is a medium to full-bodied, velvety and vibrant wine evoking sweet berries, plums, orange zest and dried flowers. This is a particularly charming Clos du Roi that will offer a wide tasting window." (Wine Advocate 2021).

"Bright, clear gold. En Pierrelet is a little riper. The profile of this Chardonnay is incisive, fine and precise, little impacted by its ageing, seductive by its freshness too." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2022 - RVF) A very fine terroir white.

" From a parcel with deep but well-drained soils, Mercurey Clos de la Maladière 2017 leaps from the glass with a rich bouquet of smoky berries, roasted espresso and grilled meats. On the palate, it's medium- to full-bodied, with a fleshier, softer profile than other Mercurey cuvées and a more enveloping core of fruit." (Wine Advocate 2019)

"This wine is the essence of the Devillard family's five premier crus (they also vinify them separately). It brings out the essential Mercurey: rich, generous and with big, ripe red fruit. The tannins are there to allow this impressive wine to age. Drink from 2022." (Wine Enthusiast 2017). Thanks to the great 2010 vintage, the Devillard family decided to create this grand cuvée called "Les Cinq" by selecting the best parts of the five red Premiers Crus of the estate. Limited quantities available.

"This cuvée, made from vines planted in 1961 and 1997, won over seduced the tasters. Rich nose with notes of crème brûlée crème brûlée, caramel and a hint of smoke. The palate impresses with its power, fatness and nervous fruitiness, carried freshness on the finish. A great wine " (Bourgogne Aujourd'hui - Dec 2019 -Jan 2020)

Notes : Gault Millau 18/20, RVF 16/20
"
Les Ruelles" is another Château de Chamirey monopole , which, like the estate's other cuvées, has been carefully crafted to make the most of this exceptional climate. A superb 2005 vintage with hints of black fruits and liquorice, to be enjoyed now or cellared for 5 years.
