"A beautiful whole, very harmonious, balance, persistence, finesse, it's a treat." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve 2019) On aromas of yellow and white fruits enhanced by toasty notes. The palate is rich and mineral. A light, fine and very aromatic Montagny 1er Cru, true to the appellation!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Domain rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
A beautiful whole, very harmonious, balance, persistence, finesse, it's a delight.
About the domain :
Stéphane Aladame founded his domaine in 1992 at the age of 18, and now runs 8 hectares of Montagny with Julie, seven of which are Premier Cru. For the past ten years, the vines have been cultivated organically, with grassing and ploughing. A lover of freshness and finesse, Stéphane uses very few barrels to allow the terroir to express itself. The wines thus offer character, but acquire their precision with a little time in bottle. An essential Montagny domaine, highly prized by wine merchants and restaurateurs.

About the domain :
As I wrote last year, Stéphane Aladame, who launched his eponymous domaine 25 years ago at the age of 18, is one of Montagny's leading figures. He describes his methods in the vineyards as "three-quarters organic", meaning that he works the soil and avoids herbicides, as well as using organic phytosanitary products, although he will use two or three synthetic treatments a year if necessary. In the cellar, he doesn't go to extremes, employing a majority of large 350-liter barrels and keeping barrels in rotation for 10 years, so that the aromas and flavors of new oak don't have a major influence here. Domaine rated (2021 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
Stéphane Aladame founded his domaine in 1992, at the age of eighteen. Since then, this perfectionist has made steady progress, assisted by his wife Julie. On the bangs of the domaine, a small négociant business was set up in 2002, producing white Burgundy and a little Montagny. His white montagnys are models of finesse and freshness: wines with little oak, great consistency, good ageing potential and reasonable prices. The domaine has made a name for itself on France's finest gourmet tables, exporting only half its production.

A lovely wine, well-balanced and fresh, with discreet ageing. Dynamic and elegant, this Montagny 1er cru is a fine introduction to the appellation.
