Montagny
The Montagny and Montagny Premier Cru appellation is located at the southern tip of the Côte Chalonnaise, in Saône-et-Loire, and covers four villages: Buxy, Montagny-lès-Buxy, Jully-lès-Buxy and Saint Vallerin. Montagny was recognized as an appellation d'origine contrôlée in 1936. Within Montagny wines, 49 climats have been granted the Montagny Premier Cru appellation, including: Les Bouchots, Le Clouzot, Les Pidances, Les Las, Les Gouresses, Les Burnins, Les Maroques, Les Beaux Champs, Les Macles, Creux de Beaux Champs, L'Epaule, Les Platières, etc. Among these climats, you'll appreciate the crus offered by Domaine Stéphane Aladame and Maison Chanson Père et Fils.

The terroir of AOC Montagny faces east and southeast. The slopes of the Bajocian hillsides are home to vines at altitudes of between 250 and 400 meters, on marl or limestone and marl soils. The lower Triassic sandstone that outcrops at Buxy is in contact with the Kimmeridgian, the geological stage of Chablis wines.

Montagny wines are exclusively white wines made from the Chardonnay grape variety. The appellation's 310 hectares allow annual wine production of around 18,000 hectolitres.

This Montagny 1er Cru, with its golden color and green highlights, is dominated on the nose by floral notes that gradually evolve towards honey and dried fruit (hazelnut). Full-bodied on the palate, the power of the Chaniots combined with its richness make this a fine, elegant wine with excellent ageing potential... A bargain not to be missed!

Vignerons de Buxy - Montagny 1er Cru Les Coères 2013

Straddling three communes, the "Les Coeres" climat is the most important of the Premier Crus. It enjoys an unobstructed southern exposure on a mid-slope. This Montagny 1er cru is distinguished by its fresh citrus aromas and notes of white flowers. It is highly suitable for ageing, and with time will express notes of honey and candied quince, with secondary aromas of hazelnut, almond and rosehip.
