"Fresh, with notes of apple and citrus, this is a fragrant wine, immediately seductive. It has lively acidity, a slightly mineral texture and a tangy finish. It's young and will age, though it's delicious now." (Wine Enthusiast 2016). With time, this delicate, deep white will take on a rounder, fatter character, with lemony touches that awaken the palate. Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 16/20 (Very good wine)

Domain rated (2021 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Refined, subtle, delicate depth, lingering citrus zest.

About the domain :

Francine Picard, Michel's daughter, puts all her considerable energy and idealism into reshaping the style of wines from the family empire, 140 hectares of vines. Since May 2019, she has been supported by biodynamic consultant Antoine Lepetit, her new technical director. The estate will be certified organic at the end of 2019, and the changes are set to continue with even more precise vinification and ageing. A wide range of top-quality red and white cuvées gives a real insight into the different climates of the Chassagne and Saint-Aubin area.

Domain rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Fermented in foudres and oak barrels, Saint Aubin 1er Cru La Charmois 2013 presents a charming floral bouquet that opens in the glass, developing subtle scents of candle wax and peony. The palate is well-balanced on entry with citrus, lemon and orange zest; then becomes much more laconic on the finish and shy going towards the Chassagne-Montrachet style. Nevertheless, this is an important wine with appreciable charm... it just needs a little time in bottle to let itself go.
