"A vibrant Volnay 1er Cru with an exceptional terroir".
"Intense notes of fresh cranberry, rhubarb and pepper contribute to a voluminous nose of overripe strawberries and freshly picked cherries. The palate is round and textured, with aromas of ripe cherry, quince, limestone and salt, which quietly integrate into the long finish. Cellar until 2028. (Wine Enthusiast 2023)

Volnay
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 94/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
A Volnay with a well-known climate that plays on strength and density. Only the finesse of the finish behind this raw material recalls the Volnay origin. As usual, this is a long-ageing wine, and 2020 reinforces this aptitude.
About the domain :
With 47 hectares in 25 climats, this family estate, assembled from innumerable parcels, boasts a unique winegrowing heritage, including a first-rate representation of the Corton hillside. The wines are faithful to their original terroirs, unpretentious and full of sincerity. The estate is managed by Dominique Guyon, and will be certified organic from the 2018 vintage. The reds, made from partially destemmed grapes, combine ripe fruit and fine tannins. They are faithful representatives of their terroir of origin, with a successful range of reds in 2018, where Corton Clos-du-Roi is leading the way, which is not unusual. In white, outstanding Meursault charmes-dessus and Pernand sous-frétille.

About the domain :
Since the 1960s, this estate has built up a vast 48-hectare vineyard (certified organic), mainly planted with 1st and Grand Crus, from Gevrey-Chambertin to Meursault. Dominique Guyon, Antonin's son, manages the estate's consistent quality.

About the domain :
Founded in 1960 by Antonin Guyon, the domaine is now run by his son Dominique, who is passionate about winemaking, and supervised by Greek oenologist Kyriakos Kynigopoulos. The range on offer is extensive, with highlights in Côte de Nuits including a remarkable Chambolle Clos du Village and, in Côte de Beaune, four superb Cortons, including a Corton-Charlemagne.

About the wine:
Barrel sample. Dark purple color. Thicker and sweeter than a typical Volnay! Just slightly alcoholic on the finish, but certainly bold.

About the domain :
This large 48-hectare estate is located in Savigny-lès-Beaune. In the 1960s, Antonin Guyon purchased parcels from Gevrey-Chambertin to Meursault. In 1970, his son Dominique completed the estate. He succeeded in bringing together 350 parcels belonging to nearly 80 owners in the commune of Meuilley in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits, representing a total of 22 hectares. Today, Dominique Guyon runs the estate and carries out the vinifications with the help of his cellar master, who is also his vineyard manager, Vincent Nicot. The vineyard is particularly well tended, with ploughing, moderate soil improvement, limited yields and grapes always sorted at harvest time. The domaine offers a wide range of wines in both Côte-de-Nuits and Côte-de-Beaune, with many 1ers Crus and a few Grands Crus de Corton and a Charmes-Chambertin. All the wines have great fruit and density.
