Domaine Opus One

The creation of the Opus One estate dates back to 1978 by the famous Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavia renowned winemaker in the Nappa Valleyan American wine-growing region located in California, USA. This unique alliance between the love of wine and the exceptional Oakville terroir augured an exceptional future for this estate.

The Opus One estate covers 68 hectares of vines, mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by plots of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec, typical Bordeaux grape varieties.

Constellation Brands Incorporation acquired Robert Mondavi Winery in 2004, while continuing the union with Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Thanks to this enduring and unchanging association, the commitment to tradition of the founders and theinnovation of the new generations, Opus One has become the representative of exceptional Californian wines.

In this quest for excellence, the grapes are hand-picked and meticulously sorted. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling, and then kept for a further 15 months before release.
