"An emblematic cuvee of the House, distinguished by the blending of 60 crus".

"Very impressive for an "ordinary" non-vintage Brut, not only in terms of aromatic complexity - candied citrus, dried peach and fresh mirabelle plum with a hint of bread dough - but also in terms of texture, with the creamy, rich and crisp sides of the wine fitting together perfectly. Long, structured finish..." (James Suckling).

Wine rated (guide 2024) 93/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Along with Piper, Charles Heidsieck is the jewel in the crown of the Descours family, and richly deserves to be considered one of today's most brilliant brands. It owes this status to the superb definition of each of its champagnes, and to the mellow, suave roundness so characteristic of the "Charles style". The house style is not based on power, tension or minerality, but on elegance.

About the wine:

Charles Heidsieck produces an impeccable NV. Reserves form a serious, appetizing core of dried apricot and sourdough around which zesty citrus, raspberry and bitter almond offer brightness and energy. Impressive detail and length.

Rated (guide 2023) 92+/100 (Wonderful wine)

About the wine:

Charles Heidsieck NV Brut Réserve is made from 150 different wines from most of the 60 crus. It is a blend of 40% pinot noir, 40% chardonnay and 20% pinot meunier, with 50% reserve wines. Disgorged in 2022 with a dosage of nine grams per liter, it presents a delicate bouquet with aromas of orchard fruit, apricot, warm cookies, praline, pastry and hints of lemon. Medium-bodied, creamy and fleshy, the palate is charming with lively acids and a chalky finish. Accessible now, but evolving gracefully.

Rated wine (guide 2024 ) 91/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

A beautiful palette of aromas in a reduced profile on lees, but without ever falling into austerity. The beautiful patina of the reserve wines delivers a complex juice. On the palate, the dosage coats the attack a little, but the wine manages it well. It's a brut without character, but with length.

About the domain :

Founded in 1851 in Reims, this small house, well known to discerning wine-lovers, owes its success to the style of its rounded, vinous champagnes. With a very high proportion of reserve wines in the blend (40%) and an assertive dosage of 8g, Charles-Heidsieck's brut sans année cultivates an original style, somewhat at odds with certain fashions, but with undeniable personality. Since the Descours family bought the house in 2011, a new era has opened up for Charles-Heidsieck, which, without losing its soul, is returning to the forefront with a complete range of top-quality wines. A trajectory that we are compensating with a second star.

About the wine:

About the wine:

Champagne Réserve Brut NV is based on the 2018 vintage plus 50% reserve wine dating back to 1998, adding substantial depth to the entry-level wine in this range. Composed of 40% pinot noir and chardonnay and 20% meunier, the wine has a youthful golden hue and is round and ripe with classic aromas of lemon curd, toasted brioche and fresh peach. Full-bodied and supple, it continues on the palate with ripe, juicy fruit, a refined, mellow mousse and notes of orange marmalade on the finish. This is a benchmark style that holds its own and will drink well over the next 10 years.
