"Building on its success, this Blanc de Blancs is a bold, elegant and atypical wine".

"Magnificent nose of white flowers with aromas of candied lemon peel underlined by a delicate white bread character with just a hint of toast. Both generous and elegant on the first palate, then the saline, chalky character builds beautifully, balancing the dosage very nicely on the long, polished finish." (James Suckling 2023).

Wine rated (guide 2024) 94/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Along with Piper, Charles Heidsieck is the jewel in the crown of the Descours family, and richly deserves to be considered one of today's most brilliant brands. It owes this status to the superb definition of each of its champagnes, and to the mellow, suave roundness so characteristic of the "Charles style". The house style is not based on power, tension or minerality, but on elegance.

Rated wine (guide 2023) 90/100

About the wine:

Buttery with aromas of apple pie, vanilla pastry and dried fruit. On the palate, matches and grilled citrus. A mature, evolved style that's carefully tuned.

Rated (guide 2023) 91/100 (Wonderful wine)

About the wine:

Disgorged in 2022, the latest version of Charles Heidsieck NV Blanc de Blancs presents a captivating bouquet with aromas of honeysuckle, lemon oil, citrus, peach, tangerine and delicate pastry notes, followed by a medium to full-bodied, round and creamy palate, layered and elegant, finishing on chalky, brioche notes. A little time in the cellar will more than pay off.

Wine rated (guide 2024) 90/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

The blanc de blancs shows the toasty profile associated with reduction on lees. The nose is nutty, breadcrumbs, cereals and brioche, the full panoply of expected aromas. The round juice on the palate seems to have been overdosed by the dosage.

About the domain :

Founded in 1851 in Reims, this small house, well known to discerning wine-lovers, owes its success to the style of its rounded, vinous champagnes. With a very high proportion of reserve wines in the blend (40%) and an assertive dosage of 8g, Charles-Heidsieck's brut sans année cultivates an original style, somewhat at odds with certain fashions, but with undeniable personality. Since the Descours family took over the house in 2011, a new era has opened up for Charles-Heidsieck, which, without losing its soul, is returning to the forefront with a complete, high-level range of wines. A trajectory that we are compensating with a second star.

About the wine:

Magnificent nose of white flowers with aromas of candied lemon peel underlined by a delicate white bread character with just a hint of toast. Both generous and elegant on the first palate, then the saline, chalky character builds magnificently, balancing the dosage very nicely on the long, polished finish.

Wine rated (guide 2023) 92/100

About the wine:

Made from different terroirs in the region for the Chardonnay, it opens in the glass with more reserved, delicate aromas of citrus pith and white flowers, with a deeper mineral tone underneath. Juicy and full-bodied, it is more expressive on the palate, with notes of ripe fresh pear and roundness, and a creamy texture. It's very seductive and, although it needs a little coaxing on opening, it's a very seductive style of ripe, juicy Blanc de Blancs that bears the Heidsieck signature. Drink between 2023 and 2030.
