Gault & Millau

"Flavors of cherry clafoutis and spice, palate in Pinotesque intensity with just the right gourmet profile and a lovely stone finish." (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2017) A complex, vinous wine, with aromas of white fruit, white flowers punctuated by citrus notes. Delicious!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (2017 guide) 16.5/20 (Reference wine)

Estate rated (2018 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Flavors of cherry clafoutis and spices, Pinot-style intensity on the palate with just the right gourmet profile and a lovely stone finish.

About the domain :

The vines, remarkably well cultivated, are located on the excellent slopes of Bisseuil, Ambonnay and Mesnil, resulting in well-balanced blends in all cuvées.

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15/20 (Very good)

About the wine:

Quite a simple nose of baked apple. On the palate, this champagne reveals itself, with substance and a beautiful sapidity that prolongs the wine on the finish. A cuvée to be appreciated for its savory, salty side, which will work wonders at the table.

Rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)

Estate rated (2018 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

A lightly tinted Champagne that reveals lovely, complex flavors of red fruit on a fleshy, enveloping, gourmet finish.

About the domain :

Xavier Gonet has set up on his own in Bisseuil, a premier cru in the Marne valley, with his wife Julie, née Médeville, from Château Gilette in Sauternes. They have an original range of vines at their disposal: the family's contribution of great Chardonnays from Mesnil-sur-Oger (Louvière, Champ d'Alouette), good Pinot Meunier vintages (Mareuil) and Pinot Noir (Ambonnay and Bisseuil). Malolactic fermentation is blocked to ensure the wine's liveliness when aged. An ever-increasing proportion of clear wines are fermented in barrels, which enhances the finesse of the bubbles. We appreciate the perfect homogeneity of a personal range, just reward for synchronized efforts in viticulture and vinification.
