"The magic happens with this deliciously fruity and harmonious champagne".

"Close to the Carte jaune in its blend, it includes 30 to 40% reserve wines; a contribution of red wine (12%) gives it its rather deep, brick-red color, and contributes to its elegant aromatic palette (fresh red fruit, lightly stewed peach and a touch of kirsch). A long-lasting rosé with character". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (guide 2024) 92/100

Domaine rated (guide 2025) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Veuve Clicquot has rediscovered its fundamentals, proudly displaying its inclination for pinot noir and its taste for vinous champagnes. In anticipation of a forthcoming revolution for La Grande Dame, the brand's prestige cuvée, the non-vintage brut, the famous Carte Jaune, has been revitalized. Skilled cellar master Dominique Demarville has taken the selection and precision of the blends up a notch, while at the same time revolutionizing the way the soil is worked in the vineyards, with vines planted with grass every other row, and a few trials in organic farming.

Domaine noté (guide 2025) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

Similar to Carte Jaune in its blending, it includes 30-40% reserve wines; an addition of red wine (12%) gives it its rather deep, brick-red color, and contributes to its elegant aromatic palette (fresh red fruit, lightly stewed peach and a touch of kirsch). A long-lasting rosé with character.

About the domain :

Heir to a family of bankers, textile merchants and vineyard owners, Philippe Clicquot founded his champagne house in 1772, with the anchor as his symbol and exports in his sights. His son died prematurely in 1805, and it was his daughter-in-law, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, then aged twenty-seven, who assumed responsibility for the company and passed to posterity. An accomplished businesswoman, she ran the company well into the 19th century, driving its considerable expansion. Today, the company has its own vineyards covering almost 400 ha, and its yellow label is known the world over. Since 1987, it has been part of the LVMH group.

Domaine noté (guide 2025) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

The LVMH luxury group, owner since 1987, has made Veuve Clicquot the second-largest Champagne brand by volume, with its famous Carte Jaune brut (top-selling Champagne in the USA). Veuve Clicquot owns vineyards in the Premier and Grand Crus appellations, which are used primarily for the vintage and Grande Dame cuvées. Marked by Pinot Noir, Clicquot wines are historically renowned for their vinous, structured mouthfeel. Cellar master Dominique Demarville's team is doing its best to maintain the difficult equation of volume growth and quality. The rosés have a fruity identity thanks to the quality of the Pinots from Veuve Clicquot's historic Bouzy vineyards.
