"Morta Maïo comes from a clay terroir. It is an increasingly muscular wine, and 2009 is a perfect illustration of this." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2012 - RVF). An expressive, fine wine with lovely aromas of fresh red fruit, full-bodied, with supple, round tannins... A great bottle, in a splendid vintage!

Expert opinion
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Estate rated (2012 guide) 2*Stars (These very great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
"A meticulous winegrower and Patrimonio leader, Antoine Arena is convinced that the identity of Corsican wines depends on healthy viticulture, in particular tillage, and the most natural winemaking possible. This noble cause also takes into account - and this is essential - the potential conferred on autochthonous grape varieties on selected terroirs, making it possible to produce a whole series of strong identity cuvées, from the famous Cuvée Carco to Grotte di Sol, and the most recent, Morta Maïo. While some vintages have seen excesses of over-ripeness (with "dry" whites with high residual sugar levels) and power in the reds, recent vintages have seen a more accurate and precise balance and finesse of extraction. Today, Antoine's sons, Jean-Baptiste and Antoine-Marie, have given the estate a new impetus, notably with the desire to develop ageing in wood. An estate that has never had a dull moment!
