Nicolas Mariotti-Bindi
Every achievement begins with a dream. The history of this estate is living proof of that. Initially destined for a career as a lawyer, Nicolas Mariotti Bindi After studying law in Paris, he realized that his life was not there. He wanted to be a winemaker. His plan was to return to Corsica to pursue his passion for wine. First trained on the mainland in Beaujolais, then on his own land at the Leccia estate, Nicolas produced his first vintage in 2007. With passion and, above all, perseverance, the Nicolas Mariotti-Bindi estate moved to in 2015 Torra Winery in Oletta. Cultivated using organic farming methods, the 15-hectare estate is divided into plots to produce unique wines that are faithful to their terroir. Vinification is natural, with only SO² used in limited doses, which are indicated on the label.
The vines are worked with the utmost respect for the land, with plowing limited to the bare minimum to allow the soil to regenerate during the winter and prevent any form of erosion. The harvest is manual and the grapes are stored in 500-liter boxes to protect them from crushing.
Four terroirs make up theNicolas Mariotti-Bindi estate's vineyard.
Mursuglia: clay-limestone terroir facing east, comprising 1 hectare of Niellucciu and 1 hectare of Vermentinu from massal selections planted at high density (7,600 vines/hectare). Vines planted in 2009.
Porcellese: with its ancient alluvial soil and rounded pebbles, this 3.5-hectare plot was planted with Niellucciu in 1966. Yields are low, and the wines produced from these old vines are concentrated.
Lumiu: south-facing clay-limestone terroir, comprising 2 hectares of Vermentinu from clonal selections planted at high density (7,600 vines/hectare).
Carcu: a collection of clay-limestone hillside plots covering 7.5 hectares, facing northeast, in conversion to organic farming since 2016.
Fleshy and velvety, off the beaten track, Nicolas Mariotti-Bindi's wines are straightforward and unique, reflecting the integrity and convictions of this highly talented winemaker.
