Familia Bastida
Visit Familia Bastida owns several estates in different regions of Spain, producing wines of various appellations: Castilla La Mancha, Rioja, Ribeira del Duero, Jumilla, Cava, Utiel - Requena. Our family Bastida has been working the vineyard for three generations, dating back to 1870.

One of its bodegas is located between Murcia and Madrid, in the heart of Spain, and produces wines in the La Mancha appellation. The property extends over 40 hectares of vines, aged from 10 to 25 years, pruned in gobelet and espalier. Located in central Spain, the Familia Bastida vineyard enjoys a continental Mediterranean climate. The vines are grown on terroirs composed of clay, limestone and sand, at an altitude of over 800 meters, in very harsh climatic conditions that are stressful for the vines despite the cool nights. The constant sunshine favors high grape concentration. The grape varieties grown on the estate are typical of the region, with a majority of tempranillo and grenache.

A 100% Garnacha, perfectly mastered on limestone terroir, aged 9 months in barrels. The nose is explosive with notes of ripe red fruit. The attack is greedy, with a round, suave juice and a mineral freshness to balance the whole. Gem of Grenache!

This 100% Tempranillo is an invitation to indulge your sweet tooth! The nose is straightforward, with ripe red and black fruits, blueberries, blackberries and plums. Crisp and juicy on the palate, enriched by spicy, balsamic notes over a mineral framework reminiscent of the limestone terroir. Superb value for money!

"Vinified in stainless steel tanks, then aged 8 months in new French and American oak barrels. Deep ruby color. Aromas of boysenberry, cherry liqueur and licorice that evolve with aeration into smoky, vanilla and floral notes. A very concentrated, homogeneous palate, offering juicy fruit (blueberry), cola flavors that demonstrate clarity and good length. The finish is spicy, smoky and quite persistent, with a hint of violet candy and supple tannins". (Josh Raynold, Vinous November 2016)
