Rating: Robert Parker 96/100
"The 2009 Celler Cal Pla Mas d'en Compte is a blend of 50% Grenache (+100 years old), 40% Carignan and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 14 months in French oak barrels. An incredible affair, offering an inky-purple color and flavors of raspberry jam, sweet blueberry, cassis, crushed stone, graphite and spring flower. Astonishing richness and intensity, with a magnificent mouthfeel and full-bodied finish, characterize this brilliant, if not prodigious Priorato." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Compared with Parker's glowing reviews, I'm rather disappointed by this Priorato. On the nose, the wine is very pleasant, with aromas of jammy fruit, cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate, however, the wine's sweetness outweighs everything else, so much so that it almost feels like drinking a Banylus or a Port. In the end, the wine is so dense and sweet, it's hard to digest. Parker's reading grid is definitely peculiar and full of bias...

Now you can taste the luxury of vacation. What genius has found something other than gas in the local shale? The excellence of Collioure, but on the Hispanic side of the border. As good as the best food, with the best friends.

A deep, dense, robust wine. Very Spanish... Unquestionable value for money. After all, it's a style and I'm not surprised that Parker gave it 96 points. In my opinion, that's too much, but to each his own. Nevertheless, it's a remarkable wine.

A real treat! Round, fruity, powerful, elegant, racy. Notes of very ripe fruit, good length, this wine is a joy!
