Domaine Claudio Icardi

The Estate Claudio Icardi was founded in 1914, in the commune of Castiglione Tinella, on the border of two great terroirs: Langa and Monferrato. Initially, the estate Claudio Icardi produced and sold the grapes to winemakers. In the 1960s, Pierino Icardi decided to vinify his own wines and strive for absolute quality to best express the terroir on which he grew his vines.

Today, his son Claudio Icardi and his daughter Mariagrazia are at the head of the estate, which they manage with masterly skill. Claudio, a trained oenologist, is known as the pope of biodynamic viticulture in Italy, and regularly lectures at oenology universities in France too. Of the estate's 75 hectares of organically grown vines, 10 ha are biodynamic. The soils are composed of limestone and clayey marl, giving the estate a specific terroir vocation for great wines.
