Castello di Ama

Castello di Ama
Castello di Ama, founded in 1976 by a group of four families originally from Rome, is located in Gaiole, in the heart of Chianti. The vineyard originally covered 55 hectares, situated between 430 and 520 m above sea level. Today, strengthened by its expansion and recognition, the estate extends over 75 hectares of vines and 40 hectares of olive groves, favoring vineyards close to the winery to guarantee high-quality grapes. Marco Pallanti, former president of the Chianti Classico Consortium between 2006 and 2012, has masterfully managed this vineyard, which has become one of the world's leading Chianti producers.

Over the years, Castello di Ama has constantly incorporated scientific and technological advances to perfect its know-how. The hacienda has replanted its vineyards, opting for a density of 5500 plants/ha and clonal selections of the best Sangiovese and several other complementary varieties. Their terraces have also been laid out to optimize the exposure of the vines.

Castello di Ama is committed to sustainable agriculture. It produces around 320,000 bottles a year, mainly under the "Chianti Classico" Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin. As a result, the Castello di Ama name is known as one of the best examples of the extraordinary quality and diversity of the region's wines.

"One of the stars of Italian oenology, this cuvée is also magnificent and a collector's item according to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate!"

"One of the stars of Italian winemaking, this iconic wine is Merlot in name but Tuscan in spirit. Apparita is a magnificent wine that gives drinkers an enormous sense of excitement and energy. Its texture is supple and rich, but its tannins are soft and round. Substance and structure are not lacking, however, with continuous layers of dark fruit, cherry, sweet spice and tobacco. The wine's complexity is enhanced by elegant mineral tones and a subtle menthol signature. [...] This is a new collector's edition of L'Apparita. 2025-2046" (Robert Parker Wine Advocate 2023) - Delivery in wooden case for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

"A truly Mediterranean spirit boasting an all-Italian identity according to the Wine Advocate!"

"The Castello di Ama 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo is one of the most distinctive wines in the vast portfolio offered by this estate. I always seem to find a balsamic note in the San Lorenzo Sangiovese (a blend of some of the estate's finest fruit, with a touch of Merlot and Malvasia Nera), and it comes through clearly in this vintage with toasty rosemary and even a touch of black olive. This wine is truly Mediterranean in spirit, and boasts an entirely Italian identity. Its supple, medium-weight texture is amplified by elegant fruit and spice. Its fresh acidity makes it the ideal partner for your favorite Tuscan pasta or pici recipes. 2023-2038" (Wine Advocate 2021)
