Wine rated (guide 2023) 98/100 (Exceptional)
About the wine:
One of the stars of Italian winemaking, this iconic wine is Merlot in name but Tuscan in spirit. Apparita is a magnificent wine that gives drinkers an enormous sense of excitement and energy. Its texture is supple and rich, but its tannins are soft and round. Substance and structure are not lacking, however, with continuous layers of dark fruit, cherry, sweet spice and tobacco. The wine's complexity is enhanced by elegant mineral tones and a subtle menthol signature. Temperatures are carefully controlled and pump-overs carried out, and great care is taken at harvest time to avoid over-ripe berries. The cool, limestone soils, with their many pebbles, serve to isolate the roots and preserve freshness. The secret of this wine is the magic of the site, exposure and geology. This is a new collector's edition of L'Apparita. 2025-2046
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2022) 97/100
About the wine:
Seductive aromas of blackberries and violets with some fresh black olives. Fresh violets too. Full-bodied, very rich and layered, with velvety tannins and a very long finish. Persistent dark chocolate flavors on the finish. A powerful Merlot. Drink after 2026.
