This 27-hectare estate, with its stony soils surrounded by forests and garrigue, extends over the remarkable terroirs of Pic Saint Loup and La Méjanelle. Le domaine Clavel produces its wines in three appellations: Coteaux du Languedoc, Pic Saint Loup and Languedoc - La Méjanelle. Based in Assas, north-east of Montpellier, Estelle, Pierre and their sons Martin and Antoine continue the work begun by the family. Clavelinitially a nail manufacturer.

Domaine Clavel is certified organic, and the entire process is guided by a biodynamic approach. Surrounded by other crops (cereals, yards, meadows, woods, beehives...), the estate benefits from an extraordinary ecosystem that favors the development of the vine.

Domaine Clavel 's grape varieties are typical of the Languedoc region: syrah, grenache noir, mourvèdre, carignan and vaccarèse for red wines; grenache blanc, roussane and viognier for white wines. Vinification is traditional and as natural as possible, with limited inputs to preserve the integrity of the juices. An installation of concrete vats, 3500-liter foudres and small 700-liter egg-shaped vats has been designed to age the wines.

"No fewer than six grape varieties are used in the composition of this white wine, already appreciated in the previous vintage: roussanne, viognier, grenache blanc, vermentino, marsanne and clairette... and perhaps a drop of a few others, planted on rocky limestone scree. Some bring roundness and generosity, others aromatic intensity or vivacity. [The result is a wine of rare balance, fat and fresh, with a long, elegant finish: exotic fruit, lime, ripe pear, yellow fruit, a touch of honey. A red wine bursting with deliciousness thanks to its notes of red fruit, cherry and an air of garrigue (rosemary, juniper...). This blend of syrah, grenache and carignan is juicy on the palate, with a lively, persistent attack. Finally, the fine tannins prolong the delicate finish.
