Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
The Sieur d'Arques cooperative is Limoux's major economic player, marketing 16 million bottles. A pioneer in parcel selection, the cooperative has been committed to quality for the past twenty years, and continues to produce well-calibrated cuvées. The range of toques-et-clochers whites, based on Chardonnay from the 4 Limoux terroirs, is aged in barrels, Burgundy-style, with stirring, resulting in generous, charming and perfectly balanced wines. An attractive range of quality bubbles perfectly complements the cellar's wines. Its consistent quality makes it a real spearhead for the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2024) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
The Cave Coopérative Sieur d'Arques is a key player in the Limoux vineyards, where it accounts for around 60% of production. Founded in 1946, it now has 205 members and a vast 1,800-hectare vineyard spread over more than 40 communes, enabling it to carry out rigorous plot selection on a very wide variety of terroirs. Its Toques et Clochers auction, instituted in 1990, has raised Limoux's profile and drawn attention to its still wines.
