Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated (2018 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Catherine and Daniel Le Conte des Floris have established themselves on the Pézenas terroir. The remarkably deep whites demonstrate the interest the value of white carignan, and show just how wrong it was to have a mistake. The region's wisest winemakers are starting to replant, a sign of the times. The range of reds are based on the terroirs in which they were born: carboniferous, basaltic basaltic and villafranchian. In white, Lune Blanche is one of Languedoc's most original wines, thanks to its blend of white carignan. Combined with roussanne, it becomes lune-rousse, and then marsanne. Grenache from Villafranchian soil and Syrah from carboniferous schist cultivate elegance and a drinkability that's easy on the palate.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100
Domaine rated (2018 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
Here's a worthwhile combination of this varied terroir of schist, sandstone and clay, which meets 70-year-old vines of white Carignan, with a touch of Marsanne and Roussanne. An expressive nose of white flowers, citrus fruit and cereals. The palate is firm yet fresh. A racy, complex wine.
About the domain :
It was in 2000 that Daniel Le Conte des Floris, a former journalist, took the plunge and created this small but exciting domaine in Pézenas. His Burgundian training is evident in his taste for terroir variation, the delicate management of barrel ageing and, ultimately, in wines favoring aromatic complexity and freshness. Word of mouth has made the whites stars of the Languedoc, pioneers in their intense, precise, gourmet style, with a breath of fresh air. In the fine style of reds, the Villafranchien (grenache), Carbonifère (syrah) and Basaltique cuvées are a fine trilogy of terroir varietals that sometimes need a year or two of cellaring to find their feet.
