This wine offers an aromatic nose of strawberry and cherry with a hint of spice. On tasting, fruitiness and freshness are the order of the day. Round on the palate, with a liquorice finish. This Cuvée "Clémence" has good ageing potential, but can also be enjoyed young. A wonderful discovery!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 90/100 (Vintage 2019)

Domaine rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Jean-Philippe Granier provides technical advice to all Languedoc winegrowers. The family-run domaine, located in the Sommières area, offers perfectly clean, impeccably vinified wines, from igp to languedoc: it's in the quality of the entry-level wines that you recognize a good domaine. In reds, clémence is intense in flavor, jéricho sounds strong and displays perfectly controlled tannin, and camp-de-l'oste is a model for the sector. There's an obvious quest here for the taste and flavors that any wine from the region should express. A very safe address, all the more so as, in addition to the reds, the whites are just as consistent and the Parenthèse rosé is regularly exceptional.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 29/06/2023

A fine, authentic cuvée from one of Languedoc's rising stars. As soon as you open the bottle, you're greeted by the scent of southern France, Cevennes garrigue and sun-drenched red fruit, as well as fine violets, sweet spices and viandé. With a soft, velvety grip, the full, deep, warm palate is in unison with the rich palette of aromas perceived on the nose and infused into a generous body of wildly seductive jammy fruit, fleshy with a little greedy acidity that oscillates with the power of ripe tannins that, without excess, retain finesse and suavity. Great, very round length, slightly sweet with a hint of zan. The mass of tannins confers good ageing potential, so the most difficult thing will certainly be to keep Clémence. A perfect embodiment of the Languedoc identity, this cuvée de copains will do justice to a couscous accompanied by tasty skewers of Lozère lamb with herbs, or more simply to artisanal hunter's terrines (hare with thyme, wild boar from the Causse with trumpets of death, venison with morels, etc.). We'll be back for more, especially since it's such a bargain for the price! Score = 4.2.
