"A remarkable entry into the Guide for this cuvée, which immediately earns top marks. Made from a blend of 80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, this 2016 has a deep purple color and opens with very ripe fruit and hints of prune. On the palate, the wine stands out for its fullness and fine tannin. Already pleasant, this bottle will age well.(Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

About the wine:
A remarkable entry into the Guide for this cuvée, which scores top marks from the outset. Made from a blend of 80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, this 2016 has a deep purple color and opens with very ripe fruit and hints of prune. On the palate, the wine's fullness and fine grain of tannin stand out. Already pleasant, this bottle will age well.
About the domain :
Situated 5 km from Carcassonne on the banks of the Canal du Midi, this is one of the oldest winegrowing estates in the Malepère region, dating back to the 13th century and the Roger Cahuzac de Caux family, and the vineyard to the 16th century. Acquired in 1871 by the ancestors of the current owners, an old Malepère family, the estate began to flourish around 1900. Its recent revival is linked to the rehabilitation of the winery in 2015 by the Boyer family, who took over the reins of the estate (70 ha, including 55 ha of vines).

a wine made from Bordeaux grapes, which is very Bordeaux. It's hard not to mention Bordeaux in a blind tasting. It's technically well done, but the Guide Hachette overdoes it with its 3 stars. There are dozens of less expensive Bordeaux wines that are just as good. Half-bodied wine. nice freshness, still marked by the wood which masks the fruit a little.

A fairly powerful wine, with good length on the palate. A good discovery.

We tasted it before Christmas with my father who is a great lover of Bordeaux, I wanted to have his opinion on a Languedoc wine that dares to use Bordeaux grape varieties, we were not disappointed, well I was because I didn't have time for a refill... a very good wine that I think deserves a few years in the bottle.

Very pleasant. Once opened, the bottle level drops very quickly.
