Last year's "Coup de Coeur", the cuvée sparkles again in 2017 with a star. A little more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (40%), in support of the Merlot, marks the nose with minty nuances that refresh an obviously ripe fruit. The palate confirms this with its warm scents of macerated fruit nuanced with woody notes, but offers a counterpoint of dashing tannins that provide just the right amount of nerve. A sunny wine with plenty of staying power. "(Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)

About the domain :
Situated 5 km from Carcassonne on the banks of the Canal du Midi, this is one of the oldest winegrowing estates in the Malepère region, dating back to the 13th century and the Roger Cahuzac de Caux family, and the vineyard to the 16th century. Acquired in 1871 by the ancestors of the current owners, an old Malepère family, the estate began to flourish around 1900. Its recent revival is linked to the rehabilitation of the winery in 2015 by the Boyer family, who took over the reins of the estate (70 ha, including 55 ha of vines).

Merlot and Cabernet (especially Franc) in this Malepère PDO located in the Languedoc region (here 5 km west of Carcassonne). Bordeaux grape varieties, aged in oak barrels! How original! This gives a lot of roundness (sunshine), as well as freshness. A great discovery! 16-17/20. A fine terroir wine!

Excellent Malepère, very well made, well matured. Round, full-bodied, well-structured but supple. The wood is present but discreet. A bottle I recommend!
