Domaine de Cantaussel has been owned by Claude and Jean-Luc Bohler since 1995. This ancient estate is located on the "petit causse", at a medium altitude (300 m), isolated in a garrigue environment, a few kilometers north of Siran, on the western edge of the Hérault department.
Domaine de Cantaussel benefits from a terroir with character: clay-limestone and sandstone soil, stony, dry on the surface, cool at depth, and a topography of small sloping or terraced plots. 2011 marks Domaine de Cantaussel 's transition from integrated to organic farming.
Domaine de Cantaussel wines are made according to simple principles: modern means, traditional methods and above all respect for the grape, the fruit of the earth, the vine and the work of man.
A blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah planted on the Petit Causse terroir, Bergerie is a fresh, supple red with lots of fruit and hints of Morello cherry. It is only produced in very good years (last vintage: 2010) . An excellent value for money in organic terms!
"The estate is on a roll, as witnessed by this 2012, which transports us into an intense, captivating aromatic universe: ripe raspberry and blackcurrant, eucalyptus. Supple on the attack, the palate rises in power on a framework of vanilla and sweet tannins with coconut accents, while remaining marked by the freshness of altitude: a perfect balance.
