"This gleaming blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache is clothed in black and garnet. Its flawless woody armor leaves the wine as free as air, exploring the garrigue, wandering through clumps of peppermint, plucking fresh, tart blackberry to soften its tannic power. Marie-Pierre Iché's touch makes this a seigneur of high lineage ". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins) It would be wonderful with a jugged hare!

About the wine:
Since 1985, when the Barons first launched this cuvée sous bois, they have been the champions of good taste and twelve months' barrel ageing. This gleaming blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache is clothed in black and garnet. Its flawless woody armor leaves the wine as free as air, exploring the garrigue, wandering through clumps of peppermint, picking fresh, acidic blackberry to soften its tannic power. Marie-Pierre Iché's touch makes this a seigneur of high lineage.
About the domain :
All that remains of the medieval fortress of the Lords of Oupia are sections of wall, vestiges of the enclosure, and a tower. In 1860, Romain Iché bought the château, which passed to his grandson André in 1970. The latter undertook the renovation of the estate and cellar, making the property a benchmark in the Minervois appellation. André passed away in 2007, leaving his life's work to his daughter Marie-Pierre.

I've been following this wine for several years. It's a great value for money, and I'm delighted to be able to discover the estate's other cuvées thanks to 1J1 vin.

The realm of Ex as extraordinary or exceptional but never execrable.....an ability to engender Co as common, edible, common but never classic of very good drinkability.... it leaves me speechless!
