Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated (guide 2025) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than its predecessor)
About the domain :
Marc Valette builds wines in his own image, with a broad stature, all expressing obvious power. He works organically and limits himself to very low yields. He has moved the whole range towards wines that can be drunk much more quickly. At the top of the range, Maghani wine takes its name from the wine of the Magi in the quatrains of the great Persian poet, Omar Khâyam.

Wine rated (guide 2024) La Revue du Vin de France July-August 2024
Domaine rated (2025 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Beautiful fruit, roundness and finesse, a hint of delicacy, lovely tension. A fine wine resulting from perfect extraction in this pulpy vintage, dominated by fruit and spices.
About the domain :
In Saint-Chinian, Marc Valette is one of these pioneers, producing quality wines since the early 1990s. "Jean-François Izarn was the catalyst. When I met him, I went from being a simple farmer to a wine enthusiast", says this humble winemaker with a big heart. His limestone vineyard, with its basic soil, covers 21 hectares of organic land around the winery. At first, the wines were rather extracted, but the style changed in the mid-2000s, when Marc decided to produce more elegant cuvées. The wines have found their own signature, between finesse and complexity, thanks to less ripe grapes and gentler extractions. The profile of these wines, pleasant when young and capable of prowess when matured, is seductive in more ways than one: the elegant mastery of southern balances is convincing. For the coherence of the range and the ability of the wines to be enjoyed young or old, we award the domaine a second star.
