"Chinon blanc!"
" What a superb wine! Chinon blanc, an appellation overshadowed by the numerical dominance of reds, yet deserving of the greatest interest, as this vintage demonstrates with ease, with subtle notes of toasted hazelnut, citrus and peach resting on a mineral base. The palate is precise, remarkably lively and long-lasting. A must-try. (Le Figaro Vins)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 14/20 (Good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
Accents of white flowers, straightforward, saline palate.
About the domain :
For Anne-Charlotte Genet, the quest for perfectly harmonious, uncluttered tannins is the guarantee of wines capable of being good young and good old. The result is seductive wines that embody charm, complexity, sensuality and great refinement. With a rare intelligence in her understanding of vines and wine, this is Chinon at its very best.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2019 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
A chenin harvested at just the right ripeness, finely toasted, with an exotic, gourmet touch. Good, clean, sapid and highly digestible.
About the domain :
Founded in 1957 by Charles Joguet in Sazilly, on the left bank of the Vienne, this estate has returned to the top of the Chinon appellation. It's a kind of consecration for the team in charge of vinification and the vines, chosen by owner Jacques Genet. They work to a high level of excellence, given the size of the estate. Above all, the winemakers have revived a vibrant spirit of freshness in the great Cabernets, which have the originality of being born facing north-east. Few estates in the Loire region boast such unmissable grands cuvées: Clos de la Dioterie (2 hectares of octogenarian vines on clay-limestone soils, with northeast exposure, in Sazilly), Clos du Chêne Vert (2 hectares in the town of Chinon), Les Varennes du Grand Clos (4.5 hectares in Sazilly). Since their arrival in 2006, Anne-Charlotte Genet and Kévin Fontaine have never ceased to refine the expression of their cuvées. After a few excesses of ageing, they have now reached a level of refinement and depth that places them among the Loire's greatest reds. The 2020s and 2019s speak for themselves.

About the wine:
This dry, spicy wine has typical Chenin Blanc hazelnut aromas crossed by intense acidity. Its freshness blends with the richness and amplitude of this wine, tightly wound with minerality and aromas of apple and sliced citrus fruit.

My God, it was bad! Completely reduced, decanting did nothing for it.
