Pouilly-sur-Loire
The Pouilly-sur-Loire vineyard is located in the Nivernais region, on the right bank of the Loire, covering the communes of Garchy, Mesves sur Loire, Pouilly-sur-Loire, St Andelain, St Laurent, St Martin sur Nohain, Tracy sur Loire. Since a 1937 decree, it has been entitled to two appellations: Pouilly-Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire.

Located some 200 kilometers from Paris, in the southeast of the Paris Basin, the Pouilly-sur-Loire wine-growing area lies on the banks of the Loire, which has a major influence on the local climate. Four very different soil types can be distinguished in the vineyard area: Oxfordian Villers limestone (Caillottes), Kimmeridgian marl with small oysters (Terres blanches), Portlandian Barrois limestone (Caillottes) and Cretaceous flint clay (Silex). The Pouilly-sur-Loire appellation covers just 32 hectares, and only one grape variety is allowed: Chasselas. It is this grape variety that distinguishes Pouilly-sur-Loire from its sister appellation Pouilly-Fumé. Production is extremely limited, peaking at 1,500 hectolitres a year.Pouilly-sur-Loire wines are easy-drinking, fresh and pleasant. The products offered by Domaine Michel Redde et Fils are nonetheless wines of the highest quality.

This 100% Chasselas reveals a mineral purity of gunflint, released after decanting. The palate reveals notes of crunchy grapes and sweet spices, all in power and smoothness. A highly recommended original from the region!
