RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France

Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

Philippe Prieur and his nephew, Luc, continue the work of ten generations at this Verdigny estate. The vines are spread over the caillottes and terres blanches of Verdigny and Chavignol (notably on the legendary Monts Damnés hillside) and the flints of Thauvenay, near the Loire. These meticulous winemakers make every effort to refine the definition of their sauvignons and pinots noirs (conversion to organic farming in 2019, reduction of sulfites in the wines, indigenous yeasts for the reds...). It's the kind of talk that goes hand in hand with carefully-crafted, precise wines, without the exotic, modern, boring character we find in many of the whites of the new Sancerre generation. The "simple" Sancerre is a case in point.
