Rated (guide 2024) 90/100 (Wonderful wine)

About the wine:

La Foulée 2022, aged for eight months in used barrels and a single 12 hectoliter wooden vat, comes from vines grown on clay soils. It has a reserved bouquet of dark wild berries, flowers and spices. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is round and supple but has a somewhat austere character, with structured tannins and a long, mineral finish.

Domaine rated (guide 2024) Tasting Review

About the domain :

From her father, she inherited a taste for terroir and soil. In the Saumur region, the Germain name naturally evokes the famous Roches Neuves estate in Varrains. Jeanne, the youngest daughter of the charismatic Thierry Germain, began her story four years ago with Ben and Comtesse, two Ardennes horses, in the field of animal-drawn agricultural services. It was her father who passed on to her the sensitivity and character that enable her to work the soil with these two big fellows: a total of seven hectares of Roches Neuves and eight other Anjou estates. In addition, Jeanne needed a bit of winemaking to blossom. She has been working on this since 2019. In 2020, she will make her second Foulée, a delicious microcuvée of gently extracted Cabernet Franc.

Paarsrode kleur. Aan de neus aroma's van witte bloemen, aardsheid en ook wat mokka. In the world zwoel, rijp en zacht Cabernet-Franc-fruit. Donker fruit en ook hier weer aardsheid, kruidigheid en paprika. Prima vulling en zachte tannine. Op het fruit en modern gemaakt. Score: 15,5/20
