Dog Point
Dog Point is an estate created in 2002 by two passionate friends and colleagues at the Cloudy Bay estate (owned by LVMH), Ivan Sutherland and James Healy. Dog Point is where sheepdogs used to roam, leaving the sheep unattended. Today, these desert lands are a beautiful vineyard where the estate's dogs continue to have a place of honour.

Dog Point 's climate is very sunny, with low rainfall and cool autumn nights - all the elements needed for the vineyard to develop slowly. Dog Point produces mainly white wines from Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, but also a Pinot Noir.

"A New Zealand Sauvignon of brilliant mastery according to Jancis Robinson & true Favorite tasting team 1jour1vin !"

"Intensely aromatic and smoky, with marked reduction, a style that Dog Point masters so brilliantly. This smoky character is noticeable, but not excessive, even if it is highly stylized. Behind the toasty match are bright grapefruit and pear, immense depth and remarkable complexity for a young, unoaked white. The mellow texture and low pH make this a persistent, mouthwatering dry wine that is clearly Sauvignon Blanc, but not only, and has better aging capacity than most New Zealand whites. Excellent purity and precision. I find this wine incomparable and I'm sure it will be even better after a year in bottle." (Jancis Robinson 2024) - Screw packaging

"From New Zealand's largest organic parcel, revel in a critically acclaimed premium wine!"

"Ivan Sutherland and James Healy met in Cloudy Bay, then joined forces to found this estate in 2004. Section 94 comes from a plot in the Dog Point vineyard - the largest certified organic plot in New Zealand. The fruit is hand-picked, whole-cluster pressed, then fermented and aged with wild yeast in old French oak barrels for 18 months. Bottled without fining. Roger Jones: The nose tells you everything - a delicate fragrance with crisp white stone fruits, delicate herbaceous notes, clean, precise citrus. Classic. Freddy Bulmer: Fairly soft nose showing good evolution, but still a fresh, vibrant wine. Creamy and intelligent, nice texture, good weight on the palate, delicious sweet spices. Cat Lomax: Hazelnut, savory toast, hints of spice with a bit of toasted match. Punch, depth, rounded citrus, dried mango, hazelnut. Creamy texture, freshness and relief. 2024-2034" (Decanter 2023) - Screw packaging

"A superb organic Chardonnay from New Zealand!

"Chardonnay 2021 is a punchy, vigorous little wine. It offers a fruity sweetness that's matched by bracing, bright, citrus-like acidity, giving firmness on the finish. It underwent 100% wild fermentation in barrel before spending 18 months on lees. This results in soft flavors of white stone fruit and citrus. 2024-2029" (Vinous 2024) - Screw cap
