Jancis Robinson
"A brilliant 100% Sauvignon from New Zealand, according to Jancis Robinson!
"Intensely aromatic and smoky, with marked reduction, a style that Dog Point masters so brilliantly. This smoky character is noticeable, but not excessive, even if it is highly stylized. Behind the toasty match are bright grapefruit and pear, immense depth and remarkable complexity for a young, unoaked white. The mellow texture and low pH make this a persistent, appetizing dry wine that is clearly Sauvignon Blanc, but not only, and has better aging capacity than most New Zealand whites. Excellent purity and precision. I find this wine incomparable and I'm sure it will be even better after a year in bottle." (Jancis Robinson 2024) - Screw packaging

About the wine:
Still very young, this wine would need another year in bottle before being opened. If you're drinking it now, give it time to air out in the glass or decanter so that the reductive match notes lift off and are replaced by white grapefruit, lime, passion fruit and dried herbs. Its complexity really lies on the palate, which is balanced with lovely texture, crystalline acidity and a long, tangy citrus finish.

About the wine:
Initially, Sauvignon Blanc 2023 needs a few moments to pull itself together - as we all do after waking from sleep. It wears a rather reductive layer, but beneath that flint lie concentrated, pure fruit flavors. It's light in body but dense in concentration thanks to low yields, and shows both concentration and punch. The color is almost silvery, and hand-picking has produced pure aromas of grapefruit and passion fruit, accompanied by a hint of nectarine. The finish is long, precise and taut. 2024-2028

About the wine:
Pure and lively, with notes of grapefruit, green melon and lemon. Notes of stone. Medium body. Nice acidity and delicious finish. Some phenolic tension. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap.

Note and review by M. FREDERIC B. Published on 05/07/2024
A great wine, no matter what the wineries of the Centre-Loire say. The nose is exuberant with citrus fruits, grapefruit and lemon. The acidity is well integrated, giving body to the wine and bringing out its roundness. The palate is fleshy, full-bodied but digestible, with good length. I place this wine on the same level as Cloudy Bay.
