"Kumeu River's 2018 Sauvignon Blanc comes from a Hawke's Bay vineyard originally conceived as part of a partnership between Trinity Hill and the Jolivet de la Loire family. It is made from hand-harvested grapes and fermented with indigenous yeasts, before being aged (briefly) in stainless steel. The nose is marked by notes of nectarine and pink grapefruit, while the medium-bodied palate has a silky texture and a lively, tangy finish, with hints of lime and fresh herbs." (Wine Advocate 2019). Lamentable ... a price at the antipodes of the poor quality of this bottle. Night and day against the fabulous DOG POINT.

In comparison with the 2019 Greywacke Sauvignon, a more pronounced acidity that may seem excessive to some palates, but quite pleasant for all those who love New Zealand whites.

Expressive nose, floral aromas. Fresh, acidic palate (residual CO2), but very short for this price level. Finish with a hint of bitterness. Disappointed by the notes, I admit.

Good acidity, but with fairly pronounced bitters. Allow to age a little.

New Zealand and Australian wines are the best of the best when it comes to white wines (especially Sauvignons). This little gem is a delicious example. A little expensive perhaps, but when you like it....
