Claudia's red cuvée is a hymn to Portugal. The blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional expresses itself wonderfully with notes of ripe red and black fruit. The tannins are supple and the oak well blended. The fresh finish recalls the foothills of the Douro Valley. An invitation to travel!

About the wine:
Claudia's Reserve 2015 is a blend of 42% Touriga Franca, 29% Touriga Nacional and 29% Tinta Roriz, aged for 12 months in second-wine French oak barrels. It is 14% alcohol. It's a delight this year. Its style is reminiscent of a "summer red", due to its fruity, sunny aspect - which matches the style of the vintage. That said, despite the lively flavor and fresh, spicy feel, it also has some structure, with moderately ripe tannins providing support. Add to this a silky texture, elegance and perfect balance. It can be drunk now, even if it's a little tight, but it's still delicious. It will be better in a year or so. For me, this is the best I've ever seen from Claudia's Reserve. Once this burst of luscious fruit has passed, will it continue to be so interesting? That question remains to be answered. However, it's so attractive this year that I'll have to look into it for the time being.

dark garnet color, very intense red fruit nose with a hint of cocoa, the wood from the ageing is well blended into the ample tannins on the palate. The alcohol is also very present. All this makes for a rather heavy wine, without much finesse.
