Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Estate rated (2012 guide) 5*Stars (Outstanding production)

About the domain :

"Acquired by the Sicardi and Sergi families in 1993, Clos Saint-Vincent has undergone a number of changes, including its transition to biodynamic viticulture. The vineyard, planted on a silico-limestone terroir with Pliocene pebbles and poudings, benefits from the dual influence of the sea breeze and cool currents descending from the southern pre-Alps. Worked like a jewel, the grapes (roll, braquet, folle noire...) give a delicious variation of the Bellet appellation - which can produce some of the finest whites in France."

Domaine noté (guide 2012) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

"Joseph Sergi manages this 5-hectare micro-vineyard with all the rigor of a wine and terroir lover. The vines are carefully tended and the estate is now biodynamic. Vinification is meticulous, with a large proportion of fermentations in wood (muids and demi-muids) followed by ambitious ageing. This can sometimes explain the nuances of reduction (nobles) in the first years in bottle, particularly for the whites, which need aeration before serving for the two cuvées, Le Clos (aged 12 months) and Vino Di Gio (aged 18 months)."
