"Set sail with the freshness of this vintage!"

This fresh, delicate white wine is made from 70% Rolle and 30% Semillon. The nose is lively and expressive, with accents of fresh yellow fruit, citrus and white flowers. Elegant and fresh, the crisp palate reveals all the freshness typical of this seaside terroir, with a saline finish of fine bitters, the signature of this singular terroir.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Sélectionné (An estate or house that has won us over with one or more wines from its production, without us being able to give a general opinion on the style of the entire range)

About the domain :

La Courtade, one of three estates on the magnificent island of Porquerolles, was bought in 2014 by Édouard Carmignac, manager of the eponymous management fund and a major art collector. Since then, the reception area has undergone major restructuring. In fact, the Fondation Carmignac has taken up residence here to exhibit the owner's highly eclectic and specialized collection. Up until now, redoing the old cellar was not on the agenda, but this is set to change in the near future. While the wines are presented with some very creative new labels, the whole leaves us wanting more. A disappointing development given the magnificent character of the wines prior to the estate's takeover. Let's hope that very soon the wine will benefit from the same attention that Monsieur Carmignac pays to his art. The terroir deserves it.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 02/07/2024

The palate is invigorating, a touch incisive, with lemony, mineral flavors on a lightly fatty background. The finish is just as fresh and airy, tinged with notes of yellow grapefruit and marked by a particularly iodized imprint. At a price flirting with €19, it's really not worth it. In any case, this white wine is not easy to match. For the time being, it was paired with a platter of Marennes Oléron Fines de Claire oysters, followed by Mediterranean sardines grilled over bbq coals. Rating: "3.3.
