Château Miraval

Owned by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt since 2008, the Miraval vineyard covers 30ha of AOC Côtes de Provence, AOC Coteaux Varois and Vin de France (reds only).

The Perrin family, owners of the renowned Château Beaucastel in Châteauneuf du Pape, have been in charge of vineyard management and wine production at Château de Miraval since 2011.

Although the estate confirms that its vineyards are organically farmed, the wines have not been certified organic since the 2012 vintage, as some of the grapes may come from the négociant, who is not always certified.

Château de Miraval produces a range of 4 wines: a Côtes de Provence rosé, a Côtes de Provence white, a Coteaux Varois white and a Vin de France red.
Once vinified, the wines are bottled by the Perrin family, who use top-quality equipment to ensure optimum dissolved oxygen levels during the process.

Château de Miraval rosé, a true ode to art

Château de Miraval, a 12th-century bastide in Provence, extends over some 1000 hectares. This setting of vineyards and olive groves has a way of transporting you. Renowned the world over, it is also home to the Miraval studio. The studio was created by composer and jazz pianist Jacques Loussier. The Miraval estate is therefore unmistakably linked to a culture of high standards.

Great minds meet to make great wines

Shared excellence requires constant rigor. And it's the combination of wine and art lovers that has resulted in the most sublime of refinements. In 2012, a year after purchasing the property, the Jolie-Pitt tandem and winemaker Perrin propelled Château de Miraval rosé to the top of the podium. It was ranked in Wine Spectator magazine's top 100 cuvées of the year. It's an accolade that recognizes the quintessence of Miraval wine and rewards the efforts made. How did the owners achieve such a high level of perfection in such a short space of time?

Soil knowledge for unrivalled expertise

The Perrin family, who originally worked in the Vaucluse region, put all their know-how into making Miraval wine. The cultivated soils are clay-limestone. The vines for Miraval Côtes de Provence are planted on a partially exposed site. The altitude is 350 meters. In fact, the cool climate and wide temperature variations between day and night give the wine its harmonious character. The elegance of subtle red fruit notes is followed by more lemony, saline and mineral notes. Which brings us back to the soul of this place.

When the culture of must rhymes with the rhapsodies of taste

Miraval de Provence wine expresses all the intensity of its creators' passion for art. Taste this Miraval wine and you'll experience the magic of the feats achieved. Indeed, it's as if during a visit, the moment remains frozen forever, allowing every note composed in the studio to shine through like an ode to the aromas of this elixir. So how do you capture the spirit of this elixir, and what are its ingredients?

All the originality of a composition at the service of tasting

In what follows, we explain what characterizes the authenticity of Côte de Provence Miraval.

Grape varieties

This terroir and the curiosity and hard work of the owners have led to the cultivation of grape varieties such as : - Cinsault - Grenache - Rolle - Syrah. It's the combination of these grape varieties on soils that are subject to wide temperature variations, as mentioned above, that has given rise to the subtle Côte de Provence Miraval rosé. The result is a blend that can be enjoyed with all kinds of dishes, provided certain conditions are met.

How to serve Miraval wine

To judge its finesse and freshness, it should be served : - Between 8 and 10°C - With Asian, European, Mexican or Brazilian dishes, for example. In conclusion, it represents an extraordinary discovery, and deserves its ranking in more ways than one, between grace and inventiveness.

"Ambitious ageing on lees and partly in barrel gives it an extra dimension, while retaining its signature minerality. On the nose, honey, beeswax and zest with a hint of pineapple, on the palate a soft, generous feel, with spice and ginger revealing themselves in the middle. Beautiful juice, skilfully vinified with a long, delicate finish". (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2017)

(2014 vintage notes)

Aged mainly in stainless steel tanks, Coteaux Varois Blanc reveals a fresh, highly aromatic nose of white flowers and citrus fruit. On the palate, the wine expresses mineral tension and finishes with elegant salinity. The balance between fruit and minerality is the hallmark of a great white terroir.
