Domaine de la Tour du Bon
Domaine de la Tour du Bon in Bandol originally took its name from a watchtower erected on the highest point of the site to protect the village, thus christening the site "Tour de Bon". Over time, the digging and Favorites of its occupants transformed this modest farmhouse into a wine estate, a member of the Bandol appellation. Domaine de La Tour du Bon is located in the extreme north-west of the Bandol appellation, facing the sea.

In this natural cirque, between sea and mountains, the aridity of the place is fortunately tempered by the mildness of the sea air. The altitude of Domaine de la Tour du Bon's land, combined with the effects of the Mistral wind , ensures good sanitation from a phytosanitary point of view. Exceptional sunshine for 300 days a year and annual rainfall of around 400 mm create a special meso-climate where the king of red wine grapes, Mourvèdre, can express itself freely, reaching rare degrees of ripeness. The vineyards of Domaine de la Tour du Bon lie on the hills of Castellet and Brulat. The vines grow on a relatively homogeneous geological substratum of marl and limestone. The terroir's natural slope drains away heavy rainfall, giving it excellent water regulation capacity. In these exceptional conditions, the grape varieties characteristic of the Bandol appellation flourish, producing red, rosé and white wines of exceptional quality.

Since 2014, the estate has been certified organic.

La Tour du Bon - Bandol rouge 2021

93/100 RVF

Our Bandol red is a true "blood of the earth". It's a wine that's meant to be accessible, but with a beautiful aromatic complexity provided by four grape varieties, but with a majority of Mourvèdre. Spicy and racy on the palate, the dense, distinguished tannins give it great ageing potential. A Bandol of choice and a "Canon du mourvèdre" (La revue du vin de France 2024).

originality

"One of the most original Mourvèdre in the region".

"Vinification in amphora has tamed the ardor of the Mourvèdre, making it purr in the glass without losing its assertive character. Velvety tannins, fine, tight chewing, lovely freshness, all accompanied by a lovely expression of black fruit, aromatic herbs, blackcurrant, blueberry, bramble and garrigue flowers. It's beautiful, sincere, and you fall under its spell." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve)

La Tour du Bon - Bandol blanc 2019

14,5/20 RVF

"This blend of Clairette, Ugni blanc and Rolle is more intense and complete in 2019 than in previous vintages. Beautiful body on the palate, underlined by fine acidity. Wait until winter to uncork it". (RVF Revue été N°642) A fine vintage!

La Tour du Bon - Bandol 2010 Rosé

Notes: "Vin Réussi" in Guide Hachette 2012, RVF 15/20,
"The 2010 rosé is cited for its floral nose enhanced by menthol notes and its rich palate of exotic and white fruits." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2012). "The rosé is very tasty, combining fruit expression and fine vinosity". (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2012 - RVF)

La Tour du Bon - Bandol Saint-Ferréol Rouge 2008

Note: Guide Hachette 2** (Remarkable wine)
"The wine reveals a complex, concentrated bouquet of peppery, vanilla and fruity notes (blackcurrant, blackberry). The palate combines volume, power, silky tannins and remarkable length. A wine for laying down, which can be forgotten for eight to ten years in the cellar and served with a rack of lamb". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2012)
