Bandol
Bandol is Provence's largest and best-known appellation. From the Sainte-Baume massif to the shores of the Mediterranean, vines make their familiar presence felt everywhere. Facing due south, the terroir looks out to sea and enjoys exceptional sunshine of almost 3,000 hours a year. A decree dated November 11, 1941 created the appellation contrôlée " Vin de Bandol " or " Bandol " for certain wines harvested in the communes of Bandol, Le Beausset, La Cadière-d'Azur, Le Castellet, Evenos, Ollioules, Sanary-sur-Mer and Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer in the Var department.

Set in a natural amphitheater, the Bandol vineyards are terraced over some 1,500 hectares. These landscapes are the result of the perseverance of generations of winegrowers: over the centuries, they have had to sculpt the slopes in order to work the vines. As a result, today we can enjoy top-quality wines from such renowned estates as Château de Pibarnon, Domaine Ott, Domaine La Suffrène, Domaine Tempier, Château Vannières, Château Pradeaux, Domaine la Bastide Blanche and Domaine de la Bégude.

Bandol's unique geology and microclimate create an ecological niche where its strong personality flourishes. Thanks to their passion for this grape, Bandol's winemakers have made it the terroir of choice for Mourvèdre. Their perfect mastery of this singular grape variety is now internationally recognized. The appellation's rules require a minimum of 50% Mourvèdre and 18 months barrel ageing before red wines, the majority of the appellation's wines, can be marketed. Syrah and Grenache complete the blends of Bandol wines.

"An immense Bandol (B+D)".

"On the nose, the fruit is abundant and lustrous, but not devoid of Bandol acidity and leathery flavor. Magnificent, undulating power, the fruit filling every space without the slightest sweetness. Cedar dust, cut cigars, blackberries and a wild mix of dried Mediterranean herbs follow through to a long, muscular finish rooted in licorice. It's impressive today, but I'd put it aside for several years or more." "A gentleman's wine (B+D)".

"A gentleman's wine that will take time to reveal itself. Drinking it now will be like contemplating a half-finished painting. A beautiful volume, still tight from ageing, and an austere profile that will soften with time to become shimmering with aromas and complexity." (Bettane+Desseauve)At last, the canvas can be appreciated in its entirety!

"The youthfulness of a rosé for laying down!

A fresh, gastronomic rosé, with a nose of raspberry and pomelo enhanced by a hint of herbaceousness. Full-bodied and opulent on the palate, with citrus fruit and pomelo, a hint of vanilla and freshness, supported by lovely acidity and a saline finish enhanced by warm spices. In short, a rosé for sharing, capable of accompanying aperitifs or Asian dishes, with good ageing potential.

"To be enjoyed as an appetizer with a pissaladière!

Bandol rosé is always a fine wine, with a brilliant, slightly salmon color and a fine, elegant nose of candied citrus fruits and spices. The palate is well-balanced and fresh, with a long, flavorful finish carried by delicate bitters.

"Unstoppable harmony!"

An eye-catching, even exuberant nose with notes of white peach, pineapple and white flowers. Sublimely generous, the palate reveals the same aromas as on the nose, and lengthens with precise acidity.

"A wine with lots of personality and amazing ageing potential".

"This vintage unfolds in a material that benefits from perfect extraction, with a nose built of black fruit, notes of truffle, supple oak, a loose bouquet, everything is complex and charming on a tannin that opens with panache without upsetting the freshness. In the final frame, a radiant bitterness and extra woodiness. That's what we call balance. (Le Guide RVF 2024)

" Between power and delicacy, the balance is perfect." (Le Guide Hachette) "

"After a magnificent series of Favorites rosés, La Suffrène returns to the fundamentals of the appellation with this superlative red. Superlatives that were not lacking during the tasting: "precise", "modern", "impressive"... Behind its intense ruby color lies a delicious bouquet of ripe black and red fruits (wild strawberry, Morello cherry, blackberry), toasted hazelnut and leather, with a lightly spicy undertone. Supple on the attack, then full and silky, structured by fine tannins, the palate unfurls an unctuous body bursting with ripe fruit that marries perfectly with the wood. A perfect balance between power and delicacy". (Le Guide Hachette 2022)

"A must for Bandol

A pretty Bandol with a nose of black fruits, which is a pleasure to drink after 3 or 4 years. It will develop a beautiful bouquet of tertiary aromas (leather, animal, undergrowth) with a little more age. Well-balanced on the palate, with supple tannins. Medium- to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with a long, mellow finish. This 2021 vintage is the second to be called "Lulu et Lucien", a tribute to the estate's family history.

"Reference!"

Situated on later terroirs, this southern white, made from 60% Clairette topped up with Ugni blanc, Rolle, Marsanne and Roussanne, retains a lovely freshness. Aging in casks adds length and body, and the finish continues with pleasant saline notes. All the freshness of the sea in your glass!

"Character and terroir for this intense Bandol".

Made from Mourvèdre and Grenache grapes, this Bandol develops an intense, flattering bouquet of red and black fruits, peppermint and violets. The palate is unctuous, sapid and full-bodied, balanced by a fine acidic structure, with powerful tannins and a delicate, well-integrated woodiness. A sure bet!

"A cuvée that embodies both the savoir-vivre and the savoir-faire of the Domaine!

The hallmark of La Bégude wines, this rosé is an honor to gastronomy. This blend of Mourvèdre with a hint of Cinsault is highly aromatic with red fruit, citrus and floral notes. Gourmet, sapid, fresh and enhanced by a touch of spice, it's a perfect match for Mediterranean cuisine!
