Bettane & Desseauve
"A true Grand Vin
"A white wine of purity of expression, fine, filigree, fresh, acidic, elegant. (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve) This Grand Vin lives up to its name: straightforward, pure and precise. Its complex, lively nose opens with notes of crunchy berries that carry through to the palate, adjusted with a touch of aniseed and a saline, salivating finish of happiness!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 14.5/20 (Good wine)
Domain rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
A white with purity of expression, fine, filigree, fresh, tangy, elegant.
About the domain :
Hidden away at the foot of the Alpilles mountains, in a magical, spectacular setting worthy of a James Bond film, this 58-hectare estate now belongs to the Charmolüe family, former owners of Château Montrose, Cru Classé de Saint-Estèphe. Cultivated as close as possible to nature, the vineyard finds its rhythm in biodynamics, the progress of the wines is clearly perceptible and their purity undeniable. Since 2018, a brand-new winery has complemented the spectacular historic winery, enabling the wines to continue to progress.

About the wine:
Vermentino, roussanne and clairette join forces in this gold-colored cuvée, with an intense nose of flowers, honey, nectarine and citrus fruit. Well-balanced and well-structured on the palate. Long, fresh finish.
About the domain :
Former owners of Ch. Montrose, a Saint-Estèphe cru classé, Anne-Marie and Jean-Louis Charmolüe acquired this vast estate (250 ha) with its ancient past in 2006, located in the heart of the Alpilles Regional Nature Park in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. The vineyard covers 58 ha, farmed biodynamically since 1988, and the wines are matured in a monumental cellar, carved out of the rock and designed like a Gothic cathedral.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Domain rated 3*Stars (very good production)
About the domain :
Right in the heart of the Alpilles mountains, this small 60-hectare estate is home to a number of Mediterranean red (syrah, grenache, cinsault...) and white (rolle...) grape varieties, as well as non-Mediterranean varieties (cabernet-sauvignon), all grown biodynamically. The grapes are vinified in a rather original location: an underground cathedral. The estate, acquired in 2006 by Jean-Louis Charmolüe (Château Montrose, Saint-Estèphe), benefits from the advice of Bordeaux oenologist Denis Dubourdieu.

Precise, well-crafted. But the nose is too discreet (white flowers, a hint of fennel). Pleasant on the palate, goes well with pan-fried vegetables. On the finish, rather average given its Provencal competitors at equivalent prices.

Beautiful white wine from Provence. Complex nose of acacia and candied ginger. Dense on the palate, well-balanced between fat and acidity, with good length & mineral finish.
