"A sweet, ripe nose of stewed wild berries and a palate of beautifully concentrated fruit. Good scope. Really well balanced in terms of fruit, acidity and tannins, with a supple, silky texture. Lots of juicy blackberry flavors. Superb length. Nice complexity too. Dangerously good! Impressive. (Decanter)

About the domain :
Founded in 1929, the Cairanne cooperative is a major player in the region with its two flagship brands, Camille Cayran for the traditional network and Victor Delauze for mass distribution. In 2020, it merged with Cave de Sainte Cécile-les-Vignes to become Cave de Cairanne Camille & Cécilia. It now covers more than 1,100 ha and is expanding its offer with an organic range.

Domaine noté (guide 2024) Cave coopérative de l'année (Grand Prix de la RVF cave coopérative de l'année)
About the domain :
Founded in 1929 in the southern Rhône Valley, the Cairanne cooperative is a model of success. It represents 330 hectares, farmed by fifty-five cooperative members, and produces 13,000 hectolitres of wine. In 2014, however, it sold off its production to supermarkets, with a debt of 8 million euros.
To get this old lady up and running again, the winery hired Denis Crespo as director in 2015. With his intimate knowledge of vines and wine, he has succeeded in convincing the cooperative members that only quality pays, by getting them more involved in wine production. The grapes are harvested when ripe, and the vines are now worked on a plot-by-plot basis. In the cellar, he has brought about a revolution by working the wines with light sulfite levels, including a few cuvées stamped as sulfur-free to enhance tannin quality.
His aim: to achieve better balance. Above all, he has totally rethought the distribution circuit, moving away from the big chains to the short circuit, restaurants and export markets. The wines have taken a huge leap forward in quality. We salute this collective effort, which has produced results that are relevant both for the quality of the wines and the long-term future of the winegrowers.

Cairanne from a benchmark cooperative winery committed to preserving the identity of its terroir. It's hardly surprising, then, that the classic blending and conventional ageing techniques are used here to deliver a full-bodied, athletic and opulent palate, dominated by the intensity of extremely seductive, fragrant fruit and supported by fine, caressing tannins. Hints of spice and licorice creep in on the finish, which is equally greedy and persistent. Why make something complicated when you can make a simple wine that's so expressive, homogeneous and harmonious? What's more, it's affordable and has a bright future ahead of it! Pair it with a daube of marcassin with steamed potatoes and celery confit.
