"What a Favorite for this Châteauneuf!"

"There's only one foudre of the 2018 Châteauneuf du Pape, and it's all destemmed Grenache from sandy soils in the Font de Loup and St Georges lieux-dits. Kirsch, blackberries, orange zest Flowery incense notes give way to a dense to full-bodied Grenache that offers a complex, seamless texture, solid tannins and a beautiful finish. This classic, elegant wine has great character and is yet another example of a great terroir in the hands of incredible winemakers " (Jeb Dunnuck) Powdered and intense, this grand cuvée is the very reflection of all the complexity and elegance of Châteauneuf du Pape.

Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Isabelle Sabon, sister of Christophe Sabon (La Janasse), bought the Saint-Antonin farm (15 hectares in Jonquière) in 2014. A blend of land opportunity and business strategy, Clos Saint-Antonin offers the possibility of a "second" wine at La Janasse. With just under two hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Janasse estate, this new label produced a very good cuvée in 2016, in a gourmand and precise style.

Guide Hachette des vins

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

A regular in the Guide, often featured prominently for its Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône and vins de pays. Christophe Sabon and his sister Isabelle, children of Aimé Sabon, who founded the estate in 1973, manage a 90-hectare vineyard scattered across numerous parcels. The estate was completed in 2015 with the purchase of Clos Saint-Antonin, and its 15 ha of vines in the commune of Jonquière.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

This 15-hectare estate, comprising a walled vineyard and an old farmhouse in Jonquière, was acquired at the end of 2014 by the Sabon family, already owners of Domaine de la Janasse in Courthézon. A winery is due to be built soon.
