"One of the greatest vintages for this cuvée!
"A seductive, velvety, caressing wine from Grenache vines planted in 1889. The nose reveals notes of cherries, sweet berries, dried herbs and mild spices. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins. The wine is bright, with notes of orange peel and succulent berries mingling with herbs and spices. Lively and vertical, with tension and an infused yet dense texture on the palate. Persistent and spectacular." (James Suckling 2024)

Domaine Les Cailloux - André Brunel
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
André Brunel's wines always combine generosity, fine tannins and freshness. The white is very refined, with a high proportion of clairette. In the reds, Grenache dominates, with some Mourvèdre. Finally, the cuvée la-centenaire is made from very old Grenache vines planted on the Mont-Redon plateau. The 2014 is a classic expression of the style of wines from the plateau of large rounded pebbles of Mont-Redon. The 2015 cuvée centenaire is a great success, as is the 2016 white.

Wine rated (guide 2025 ) 95/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
Beautifully defined with hints of stone and spice, the nose is fruity with a lovely floral note. Full-bodied on the palate, with a delicate, uncluttered juice. We are surprised by the fluidity of the profile. The wine is more graceful than fleshy.
About the domain :
Little known in France, André Brunel is nevertheless one of the elite of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. His racy wines are characterized by minerality and refinement. The entire range is extremely consistent. The classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a quiet force, full of finesse and nuance. In the best years, the estate produces a small quantity of a magnificent cuvée from vines planted in 1889 on the Farguerol plateau, called Cuvée Centenaire, which was launched in 1989. It enjoyed rapid and well-deserved worldwide success. André Brunel still owns a few rare and magnificent old bottles, from 1947 and 1967 or, more recently, from 1978, which show an undeniable savoir-faire that is reflected in the quality of today's wines.

Wine rated (guide 2024) 94/100
About the wine:
Aged for 18 months in concrete tanks (94%) and oak barrels (6%), the pale ruby-colored Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Centenaire 2022 is of great purity. Aromas of rose petal, strawberry, raspberry, orange peel, licorice and white pepper are all nicely defined. The 2022 is an ambitious, uncluttered Grenache, round and refined, gliding to a complex, lingering finish. Although this is a wine for the long haul, it should be accessible early in its career.

About the wine:
Kirsch liqueur, peppery garrigue, wild flowers and the mineral character of graphite shine through in Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Centenaire 2022, a small production based on very old Grenache vines from the appellation's northwestern region. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated yet balanced and incredibly elegant on the palate, it has classic Grenache charm and will last for 25 years.
